Known as the peaceful island, Fuerteventura has an area of 1.679 square kilometres. It is the second largest island in the archipelago of the Canaries, situated only at 96 kilometres away from the African coast. Its extensive beaches of golden sand alongside the turquoise waters will make you feel like you are in a real oasis in the Atlantic Ocean.

The coastline of Fuerteventura is known for kilometre upon kilometre of white sandy beaches that attract holidaymakers to this beautiful island. In the South you can find the longest beach (26 kilometres) and in the North you will find the wide dune beaches of Corralejo. The constant wind and its special water conditions make Fuerteventura a place where the infrastructure has been developed in association with water sports, especially surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and game fishing.

The town of Corralejo is one of the better-known places on Fuerteventura.  Tourism demand means that the town is constantly changing.  Most bars and shops are located on the main street that ends up at a cobbled street filled with all types of restaurants.  The dock is the departure point and all local boats are berthed there. One can also access Lanzarote by regular ferry from there.  The trip takes only 35 minutes from Corralejo. Just at the entrance to Corralejo, there is a natural protected area: the Parque Natural de Las Dunas.  It has unique charm and offers visitors extensive golden sand dunes and beaches with turquoise waters.  Amongst them there are beaches that are quite popular with windsurfers and other sports-enthusiasts and which are ideal for spending a peaceful day with the family. From Corralejo one can travel to the isle of Lobos, located between the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, where you will feel totally at one with nature, you can even enjoy watching exotic fish if you decide to dive.    

El Cotillo is a small village on the north of the island, a few kilometres from Corralejo.
Located on the Northeast coast, it is built around a small dock that is mostly used by local fishermen.  Close by, there are several bars and restaurants in which one can experience the island’s typical cuisine. Next to the port, stands the “El Tostón” tower, from which captivating vistas can be enjoyed.   Public transportation can be used to travel to El Cotillo:  its many charms invite you to experience them.

Caleta de Fuste is located to the south of Fuerteventura International Airport and is also known as El Castillo. It is one of the biggest tourist enclaves on the island.  Caleta de Fuste grew rapidly, in response to the increased number of tourists looking for beaches and golf courses.
You’ll never lack things to do in Caleta de Fuste: water sports, boat tours, mountain-bike, diving and even underwater excursions. Night-life is varied and you will find bars, shows and a wide range of restaurants serving local and international cuisine. Being centrally located, Caleta is the perfect place from which to explore the entire island of Fuerteventura.
